About

Drawn to colour, movement, and emotion, Jen Suyi known artistically as J Suyi, creates bold, expressive abstracts that flow between intuition and intention. Since 2018, the self-taught, London-based mixed media artist has been exploring freedom, identity, and the beauty found in imperfection. Her work is alive with texture and rhythm pigments bleed, layers merge, and form gives way to feeling.

At the heart of her practice lies a deep exploration of her dual cultural identity, as a British Nigerian and her life in the Western world, J Suyi creates visual spaces where cultures converse where memory, belonging, and spirit intertwine. Her process is instinctive and meditative, guided less by plan than by emotion, resulting in works that shimmer with metallic pigments and radiate both strength and vulnerability.

Cerebral as well as visionary, J Suyi brings a depth of perspective shaped by her life in the corporate world. Having completed multiple degrees at Bachelor’s and Master’s levels and earned professional qualifications in IT and Financial Services, she rose through a successful career, yet the quiet call to create grew louder. Answering that call became an act of authenticity and courage, a return to the truest form of expression.

Today, J Suyi’s practice continues to evolve through her exploration of unconventional materials and techniques. She often incorporates drawing pins and thumb tacks into her work, adding a striking contemporary edge to classic forms and figures. In other pieces, she weaves real flowers into her vibrant abstracts ,a poignant symbol of life, fragility, and transformation, evoking the delicate balance between beauty and impermanence.

Her dynamic style also extends beyond the canvas into the realm of functional art, where she transforms everyday objects into one-of-a-kind creations in her Home Decor and Gift Range that embody individuality and creative energy. Her work has been exhibited and collected across the UK and internationally, and she continues to collaborate with corporate and creative partners, curating exhibitions that celebrate freedom, diversity, and the transformative power of art.
